ADDRESSING CONCERNS
Addressing some ConcernsThe Bezier Design curve method was submitted to a forum on "Boatdesign.net" to gain input from other yacht designers. From this forum the three main concerns are address below.
There is more welding required with the construction of a Bezier Curve Chine Hull: You and others will be looking at your boat for many years to come. An additional 40 hours welding is insignificant when you're still admiring the reward of a true round hull. Well worth the extra effort years later!
Possible distortion caused by the additional welding of the bezier curve method: Distortion from welding is an issue in metal boat construction no matter what method is used. Distortion can be controlled when building by the bezier curve method. Just as it is controlled in other metal boat building methods. Follow the proper welding sequence and procedure recommended. Generally the same procedure used in all other metal boat building methods is used with the Bezier curve method. Bezier Curve - Welding Sequence
The final finish will require fairing compound: No matter what method of construction is used, it is standard in the aluminum boat building industry to use fairing compound when the required hull perfection must be similar to fiberglass hulls. Bezier curve - Fairing Compounds
