ASSEMBLING
BEZIER 12.5 FRAMES

Bezier-Boatbuilding-Keel

Frame #5 has been chosen to illustrate the frame assembly process. The below left drawing shows Frame #5 assembled, while the right hand drawing show an exploded view of the parts.

Since the keel section is fabricated separate from the main body of the hull the keel frame is not used in the construction of the hull frames.

Below are the full size patterns for Frame #5. Again note that the half pattern for the keel frame is not used in the transverse framing of the hull. This keel frame is used in the keel assembly which is constructed separate from the hull.

Below are the components of Frame #5 in their approxmate location before assembly. There are five pieces which make up frame #5.

COMPONENTS OF FRAME #5

  • Bezier Curve section - Requires a Left and Right - Has been prefabricated from sheet material and flat bar to form a rolled angled. This is the true round section of the hull. Note that the seat framing is intergrated into the Bezier Curve Section.
  • Bottom Frame - Fabricated from 2" x 2" x 1/4" Angle - Requires a Left and Right - Forms the developable bottom surface of the hull
  • Floor Angle - Cockpit sole - Fabricated from 2" x 2" x 1/4" Angle - This member ties the lower sections of the frame together and supports the cockpit sole of the boat.
  • Deck Angle - Fabricated from 2" x 2" x 1/4" Angle - Requires a Left and Right - Deck frame at this location.
  • Headstock Angle - Fabricated from 2" x 2" x 1/4" Angle - Used to temporally support the frame structure - More importantly the headstock angle aligns and spaces the frames on the building Strongback

THE TRANSVERSE FRAMES FOR THE BEZIER 12.5 ARE NOW COMPLETE AND SHOWN BELOW.

Transverse Completed - July 1 2011
