SAW CUT LONGITUDINAL FRAMES
Bezier curve designed boats use a longitudinal framing system. This mean that the shell plating is supported and welded to the longitudinal frames, not the transverse frames. In Bezier Curve computer designed boats longitudinal frames are programmed as developable surfaces. This type of surface rolls in two directions and can be developed to a flat pattern. Developing the longitudinal frame to a flat pattern pre-forms the curve in one direction. The other direction of roll will easily take on the the required curvature. One of the methods, I have used, to fabricate longitudinal frames for the Bezier 12.5 is the "Saw Cut" method. This method will be used of the principle visual longitudinal frames which are the Sheerline, Center Vertical Keel, and the Cockpit Coaming. Longitudinal frames are lengthy and need to be divided into manageable piece to save material. The first developed full size pattern below (Green) show the CVK or Center Vertical Keel. These pattern would be transferred to sheet material and cut to shape with a Vertical Band Saw. Below the CVK are patterns for the Sheerline (Red) and the Cockpit Coaming (Blue).

Supplied with the full size patterns are dimensioned drawing below used to align the frame to their finished length.
