Steel mast step details....
How to fabricate

MAST STEP DETAILS

MAST STEP

A Mast Step Doubler , similar to the doubler at the mast head (but somewhat thicker), is used at the base of the mast. The height of this doubler is 6" long, and continuously welded to the mast.

If the mast deck stepped, a mast position collar is welded to the framing structure of the cabin to position the mast. If keel stepped the collar would be welded to the floor structure of the boat. The collar is a minimum height of 2". (Note that the mast position collar is not shown, it is part of the boat, not the mast.)

A Base Flange and Cover are needed for access to the mast - similar to the access at the mast head.

Electrical Exit Fittings are continuously welded to the removable cover plate at the base of the mast, all wiring exits the mast through this coupling. All wiring is sealed water and air tight.

Other item shown in the drawing are the center divider used to fabricate the mast. Lighting holes in the center divider are also shown.
