About this Blog:
- In this 'Blog' I will be redesigning the 'Dark Harbor' to be redesigned for aluminum construction in Real Time, well (My Real Time).
- The Reader will be able will be able to submit 'Posts', which will become part of this Website.
- The Reader can also attach pictures along with their 'Posts'.
I am going to redesign Dark Harbor for aluminum construction to promote 'Bezier Design and Constructions' True Rounds metal building method.
The main object for the redesign of 'Dark Harbor' is to retain the orginial hull canoe body hull, deck, cockpit, and hull features.
While keeping Dark Harbor's overall esticteck appeal Dark Harbor will be brought up to date:
- With the addition of a propulsion system, ( I am thinking of a saildrive system).
- A toilet will be added along with modern electronics.
- I would also like to change the rig from a Gaff head ring to a Mast head or a 7/8 fractional sloop rig, well see. (I just do not see todays sailor's wanting to manage Gaff rig.)
My Start Point
- I will be create a model file using 'Multisurf's' marine design software from Dark Harbors orginial Lines drawing's and' Table of Offsets'.
- I will calculate the static hydrostatics for the orginial design to be sure it is consistance with data given for the original design.
- Since the 'Vertical Center of Gravity' is not given on the plans, I will do a weight study of the original design using the construction and other drawings to establish the 'Vertical Center of Gravity'.
- While some Sailplan information is given, I will also do my own calculations to get a complete picture of the Gaff rigged and how it interact with the laterial plane of Dark Harbors underbody.
- With the aboved information at hand I will prepare a 'Stability chart' for this orginial version of Dark Harbor.
- Lastly, I will run the orginal version of Dark Harbor thru a 'Velocity Prediction' program.
- All the above will give me a 'Base Line' from which the original version of Dark Harbor can be compared to my redesigned version.
